Obadiah Smith Jr is a retired Air Force Reserve Chaplain who served 20 years within the Air Mobility Command. His last assignment was Wing Chaplain at Grissom Air Reserve Base in Kokomo In. He received a B.A. degree in sociology from Azusa Pacific University, Masters of Divinity from Fuller Seminary; MBA from Anderson University and a Military equivalent Master’s Degree.  He is an ordained minister with the Church of God and has held several previous positions with Church of God Ministries as Director of Homeland Missions and Compassionate Ministries (disaster relief and sustainable development project around the world); and was Associate Director/Strategic partnerships with World Vision International before relocating to Anderson Indiana.

His international experience includes travel, programs, teaching, consultancies and sustainable development projects in Africa, Brazil, Haiti, Romania, Turkey, Israel, Athens Greece, Hong Kong and Sir Lanka.

Obadiah mission statement states: My life is governed by the things of God and reactive to the things that break the heart of God. I devote my actions towards fulfilling the Kingdom of God. Seeking justice for the disenfranchised, advocating and resourcing gifts towards the poor, and disadvantage. I choose by doing and not by showing; therefore, living a life in reality but dreaming about the possibilities of the future.

◦ Distinquished Sagamore of the Wabash, the highest honor, which Governor of Indiana bestows upon a citizen of Indiana, Governor Michael Pence 2016.

◦ He held the distinctive honor of Officer of the Quarter and Officer of the Year at 434th Grissom Air Reserve Base. 

◦ Outstanding Chaplain of the Year Air Force Reserve Command (the number one reserve chaplain in the United States).

◦ Distinguished Servant Leader Award for Outstanding Professional Achievement and Exemplary Role Model, (Anderson Falls School of Business, MBA Alumni Chapter)

◦ Indiana Black Expo, Inc. Governor’s Award for Achievement In Civic Leadership Military, Governor Michael Pence, Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann.

◦ Obadiah served three terms as commissioner on the Indiana Veteran Commission selected by Governor Mike Pence.
